The iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 Outsell All Other Smartphones
August 23, 2011
When you first glance at the data that came out today from the research group NPD, you would think that Android phones are winning the race in the smartphone market. The NPD press release states that during the second quarter of 2011, 59 percent of all smartphones sold in the U.S. were Android based and 29 percent were iPhones.
However, there is something that you don’t see in this report, unless you have access to the full Mobile Phone Track report that is put out by NPD. The iPhone has been selling at this rate with only two devices: the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4.
Android devices are made by several different companies, so when all this is compared equally, Apple’s older model iPhone 3GS and soon to be old model iPhone 4 are outselling all other smartphone manufacturers.
Thanks to SplatF, we can see who is selling the most phones, according to the NPD report. Here are the five top selling smartphones during the second quarter:
- Apple iPhone 4
- Apple iPhone 3GS
- HTC EVO 4G
- HTC Inspire 4G
- Samsung INTENSITYII
