TweetBot Updated - Adds Muting And Official T.Co Shortening Support

August 17, 2011
TweetBot, one of the best third party alternative Twitter clients received an update and an interesting new feature this week. Called "muting," it allows you to continue to follow someone "officially," but not see their updates in your stream anymore. It's not a major feature, but it will certainly be convenient when you don't want to know the results of a game or if you get sick of somebody, but don't want to hurt their feelings. Best of all, you're free to select how long you want to mute an account, either a day, week, an entire month, or forever. Tweetbot 1.5 also adds support for Twitter's official link shortening service: t.co. That means the links you'll post from now on inside the app will be seamlessly shortened by Twitter for other clients, and all t.co links will be shown in full when possible inside the app. This might not be good news for everyone, but Twitter is pushing everyone to use its own services anyway so you need to get used to it whether you want it or not. Tweetbot 1.5 is available for $2.99, or as a free update on the App Store. (Image Credit: Macstories)
