Apple Copies Amazon With "Quick Reads"

September 13, 2011
Apple has added a new section to its iBookstore called “Quick Reads,” which features short stories and manuals for $5 or less. Sound familiar? Amazon has been offering its own line of short writings called “Kindle Singles” for a while now. These include essays, memoirs, narratives, and short stories, all at about 5,000 words in length. Most of what Apple is offering ranges in price from $.99 to $4.99 and includes both fiction and nonfiction titles. The number of “Quick Reads” currently stands at 85 titles. This compares to the 97 Amazon Kindle titles. You can find "Quick Reads" via the iBooks app on your iPhone/iPod touch or iPad or through iTunes.
