Apple Store Goes Offline, Comes Back With Some Interesting Changes
September 9, 2011
Earlier today, the Apple Store was temporarily offline and that seemed to spur some excitement and buzz from many news sites about what it might mean. Now, the online Apple Store is back up and there appear to be a few changes.
Earlier this week we reported that Apple shipping times for some items, such as the iPhone 4 and the iPod touch, were taking three to five days, and the iPad was taking two to three weeks. This information had us all wondering if Apple was preparing for some new products.
However, this morning it appears that all the shipping estimates have disappeared and it says "in stock" under the products instead. If you go through the checkout process, it shows a shipping estimate of two to three business days on many of the items.
Another change to the online store is a shopping wizard for the iPad 2. This new step by step guide will take the buyer through a process that will help them pick out the exact iPad model that will meet their needs.
It will be interesting to see if this new concept on the site is foreshadowing the rumored iPad 3. Will the new tablet have more options to choose from? I never thought figuring out which iPad you wanted to buy was all that difficult, but maybe it will be in the future as more options are introduced.
This is just another chapter in the mystery of Cupertino saga. Stay tuned. We promise to keep you updated.
