e3D: Detective (Free) by Bored.com is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch. It is a point-and-click hidden object game that will test your puzzle solving abilities.
This game is part of the Escape series that Bored.com released in the App Store recently. Each free app is a puzzle that you must solve by collecting and combining items and discovering clues. Some items can be dragged to others, creating new items that will help you escape. You can’t get out of the room until every item has been picked up and properly combined.
E3D: Detective is so simple it’s hard to believe it is fun to play. The challenge of trying to solve the puzzle and escape the room is enough to keep you coming back. You are timed, so once you discover all of the items and clues, you will want to replay the game to see if you can complete it any faster.
There are times when the game is not responsive and you have to touch an item over and over again for it to work. It is also difficult to see some of the items on the iPhone or iPod touch screen, but once you know where everything is, you can find things more easily.
Overall, this is a surprisingly fun game. You may solve it within a few minutes and after a couple of tries, it won’t seem that fresh anymore. The replay value is fairly low. Luckily, there are a lot of other apps in the series for you to try out, and since they are free, you can collect them all.
