Jetpack Joyride Update Adds A New Vehicle And New Unlockable Content
September 13, 2011
Halfbrick Studios announced that Jetpack Joyride officially surpassed the 350,000 downloads mark in its first week of availability. To celebrate this lofty achievement, the developer down under has released the very first update to Jetpack Joyride, which adds all kinds of new content.
In Jetpack Joyride v1.1, Barry Steakfries is now able to ride a giant fire-breathing robot named Mr. Cuddles. Mr. Cuddles rises to the top of the screen by default, but tapping and holding on the screen will cause him to descend while breathing out a constant stream of fire.
The other two new pieces of content can only be unlocked by spending hard earned coins. The new Fruit Jetpack sends fruit flying everywhere just as you would expect, with juicy goodness covering all of the lab. It will set you back a whopping 20,000 coins.
You can also give Barry a brand new look -- the Honest Phil. This new costume is based on Halfbrick's well-known marketing maestro, Phil Larsen, and gives Barry that kind of cuddly teddy bear look. It will set you back another 7,000 coins.
Of course, no update is complete without the usual bug fixes, and this one takes care of issues with coin bankrolls, achievements, and mission related items.
If you have yet to take Jetpack Joyride ($.99) for a spin, there is no better time than the present. You can check out our review of the original release version to learn a little bit more about Barry Steakfries' latest adventure and see if it will meet your high gaming standards.
