Bounce Through The Galaxy And Nom The Stars In Big Eater - Plus Win A Copy!
Big Eater ($0.99) by Edwin Seah is a simple and elegant arcade-like game for the iPhone. This gorgeously galactic action game will keep you entertained and challenged, no matter what your level of expertise is.
Bounce around and collect stars while trying to get the highest score. Watch out for the ghosts, though, as they will put a stop to your star eating immediately — game over.
Tilt your iPhone to move through the galaxy and eat all of the stars. With each bounce, Big Eater becomes smaller, so the more stars you collect the better. The bigger stars will make you huge. When Big Eater is under the influence of the big stars, he can devour the ghosts, as well. Otherwise, you must avoid them at all costs.
Your score is compiled by how many stars and ghosts you eat along your journey through the universe. But as soon as you hit a ghost when you're small, the game is over and you must start over.
The graphics are celestial and beautifully done. The characters and stars glow in the midst of a dark, starry background. The bouncing sounds are cute, however, I feel this game deserves a relaxing soundtrack. This is what would make it even better — that and Game Center support.
All in all, I found this game fun and challenging. It gets more difficult, the longer you survive, which keeps it interesting. However, the developer is thinking of adding in a "kid mode," in which it will be a little easier for anyone having too much difficulty.
Big Eater is in the App Store for $0.99. If you enjoy simple yet challenging games, especially ones with great graphics and controls, this one is a must.
