Doodle Monster HD Offers Simple Drawings, Simple Humor
Doodle Munchies HD ($0.99) by Donovan Crewe is an endless runner based on animated characters and fart jokes.
You start off with a blue creature called a "munchie." The little guy will start running and it's your job to help him jump over obstacles, and kill enemies with his farts. Collect stars as you go to unlock the other characters and open up planets for more levels.
Moving your munchie is accomplished by either jumping or farting. Jumping is self-explanatory, though hitting the jump button a second time results in a double jump. The obstacles are small enough that they could be jumped in a single bound.
However, if you jump too early, you'll most likely need that double jump for some extra "oomph."
Farting will speed your character up, which will kill an enemy if it's in your path. It took me a little bit of time to wrap my head around using essentially a rear-facing weapon to combat a monster ahead of you. Farting can also be used for fulfilling a need for speed, or just for kicks.
Stars are the currency in this game, though not all stars are created equal. For the most part, the stars are bonuses, though some will provide something extra (whether good or bad). For example, a black star dims the light ahead of you, while a blue star flies you across the screen.
An HD version of this app is only available for now, though the developers intend to release an iPhone version by early October.
This is a fun endless runner. The hand-drawn graphics and upbeat music, combined with the quirky munchies make this game a winner.
