Flight Card Beautifully Organizes Your Flight Info
Flight Card ($4.99) by Sylion is a beautiful way to track your flight. If you’re the type to do a lot of traveling (lucky you), then this could be your best bet for keeping up with various flight schedules.
The thing about Flight Card that caught my attention is the simplicity and elegance in design. The moment you open the app, this becomes very apparent.
The Settings of Flight Card allow you to toggle 24-hour format and have the app remove completed flights for you automatically. No more features – just the bare necessities.
To add a new flight, you just tap on the “+” button to search for a flight. You can search by either Flight # or Route.
The Flight # option gives you the opportunity to enter in Airline, Flight #, and Departure. Route has Airline, From, To, and Departure. Obviously, if you have the itinerary, just enter in the flight # that you have and it should give you the result you’re looking for. If you’re searching by Route, then you will get back all available flights from your starting point to destination.
The search results will show you the flight number, departure, and landing time. In addition, you will see the current status of the flight: Landed, En Route, Delayed, Cancelled, and Scheduled. Each are color coded in an earthy-tone color palette that fit well with the overall color scheme of the app. When you find your flight, tap on it to select it. This will gather up the info of the flight into a “card.”
The top of the “boarding pass” will be color coded to match the status of the flight. Underneath the “Boarding Pass” text, you’ll see a marquee that switches between the departure day and time to status. In the middle of the card, you’ll see your departure and arrival airports, flight #, terminal, and gate information. At the bottom of the card is a flip clock that will switch between the departure and arrival time when you tap it. Next to the times is a “Share” button, which allows you to send all this flight information to a friend or family member through email or SMS.
To get back to the list view of all your flights, just tap the button at the top left corner. Yep, that’s right – you can have more than one flight stored in Flight Card at a time. This is great if you are lucky enough to be constantly traveling. This list view also provides a great at-a-glance view of your flights, since you see all the information at once, and the most important: status.
I absolutely just love the design of this app. The color schemes used, the typography, and even the buttons – this app just oozes with beauty. The most useful thing is that the app does not have a lot of settings – you just get the info you need and that’s it. That’s all that matters when you need to look up flight information anyway, right?
Flight Card tracks more than 90,000 flights each day, from over 1,500 airlines and 16,000 airports. The app currently supports English and Spanish, and there is more to come.
