I'm a fan of personal touches for holidays and birthdays. I think it means something when someone special puts in extra time and effort to make something personal and thoughtful. However, there are some gifts that you wish you could stash under the bed and refuse to acknowledge the existence of. I'm not entirely sure where this app sits along that sliding scale. Jolly Talker Birthday has an adorable cupcake with candles that you can actually blow out. On the other hand, I watched my husband experiment with the talking stuffed animal, and he might need to hold me tonight to keep that demon voice away.
Yes, there is a stuffed animal that speaks a recorded message in a high-pitched voice. When children record messages, it's cute, thoughtful and adorable. When a grown man does it, it sounds like a hippopotamus giving birth in a helium filled room. Besides the voice recording that can be both useful and abused, there are also bug eyes and a mouthful of teeth that sort of freak me out. I'm horrible with scary things though. So, I'm not a great judge of things like that.
Besides that feature, the cupcakes are amazing, and I love the candles. If you blow into the microphone, you can blow them out. For kids, that would be awesome. You can send your cupcake and message via email to your loved one on their special day.
