Track Your Lifestyle Habits With An Amazing System By Jawbone
September 9, 2011
Jawbone, the maker of Bluetooth headsets and the awesome sounding Jambox, is moving into an unexpected area: Lifestyle habits and fitness. It is an interesting concept, and leave it to Jawbone to figure it out.
The product combines an app and a waterproof bracelet, which so far appears to come in at least: blue, red, black and white. This MotionX powered system will track your movement, patterns and eating habits. MotionX is motion tracking software, and is used in some popular GPS apps such as GPS Drive.
The Jawbone UP system will track how long you sleep, the number of steps you take each day, the amount of physical activity you engage in, calories burned and more. Its “move” feature, will vibrate to remind you that it is time to get up and be active.
The system will help figure out what the best foods are for your particular metabolism. Snap a picture of the meal you are eating and it will be added to the app. You can track your meals, create a custom diet, and hopefully improve your metabolism.
A really impressive feature of Up is how it will track your sleep patterns. Learn about your sleep habits, including: how long you slept, how long it took to fall asleep, sleep phases and patterns, when you were awake, and the overall quality of your sleep. Up also has an alarm feature that will send gradual vibrations based on your sleep cycle. Hopefully you will feel refreshed when you wake up.
There is a website dedicated to the new Jawbone Up, but right now it only has a coming soon banner and a picture. You can sign up with your email address to be notified when the product is released. Also, AppAdvice will let you know when it becomes available.
Overall, this sounds like a miracle device, but I am anxious to get my hands on one and check it out. I imagine it won’t be the least expensive health-tracking device, but it certainly will be attractive to individuals who love the latest technology and are interested in improving their lifestyle habits.
The website, 9to5Mac, released information about the Jawbone Up including a promo video on YouTube which we have included below. Also, check out this nifty wrist measurement tool to ensure you purchase the right bracelet size.
The release of this awesome new product is scheduled for September 25. Watch the promo below and tell us what you think:
