Adding Your Own Vibrations Via iOS 5

October 14, 2011
In recent days, we’ve gotten a lot of requests from readers wondering if you can create custom vibrations using iOS 5. And answer is yes you can and here’s how. First, you’ll need to turn on Custom Vibrations. Do this by going Settings > General > Accessibility. Make sure to move the slider from Off to On for Custom Vibrations. From here, you’ll want to create your first vibration. To do so, select General at the top left of your screen, followed by Settings. Tap Sounds and then scroll to the bottom where you’ll see Vibration Patterns. Next, Tap on Vibration. Here you’ll see find five standard vibration patterns including Alert, Heartbeat, Rapid, S.O.S., and Symphony. Below that is the choice for Custom, which you should select. On this screen, you’ll be able to create a vibration pattern (up to 15 seconds) by selecting Recording and then tapping on the pad. When done, you can save the pattern, play it back, or record to create another one. Finally, once you create a vibration you like, save it and name it to whatever you want. From there, you’ll be able to use this custom vibration, like all others, for calls, messages, emails, and other notifications. We hope our readers can benefit from this new tool!
