Additional Titles Added To Newsstand, Including The New York Times and The Guardian iPad Edition

October 13, 2011
This evening, additional titles were added to Apple’s Newsstand service. Launched with iOS 5 today, Newsstand is where magazine and newspaper subscriptions reside in Apple’s new operating system. New titles released today for iPad include NYTimes for iPad, Esquire iPad Edition and The Guardian iPad Edition, among others. Total Film Magazine, How It Works, and Future Music are among the new titles for iPhone/iPod touch. As publishers begin using Newsstand, their products will no longer show up as separate apps in iOS. Instead, Newstand shows an icon of the front page of the latest issue. Of note, the Guardian iPad Edition is completely new in iOS as of today. As such, its publisher is offering a free subscription to anyone downloading it for a limited time. Thereafter, a subscription will run £9.99 per month.
