Increase Your Odds Of Getting An iPhone 4S This Friday - Our Tips

October 10, 2011
If you didn’t already preorder an iPhone 4S, the only way to get one on Friday is to stand in line. Unfortunately, that still doesn’t guarantee you’ll be successful depending on a store’s iPhone 4S availability and of course, how many people are in line ahead of you. Still, we got some tips that might help. More Than One Apple Store? Those lucky enough to live near two or more Apple Stores have more opportunities to score Apple’s newest handset. Still, we have some suggestions on increasing those odds even more. First, divide and conquer. If possible, have someone in your party stand in line at each of your local Apple Stores (a friend or significant other, for example). Then, the one that gets to the counter first should be the one that makes the purchase. Got no friends, or your wife or husband actually has a job to get to on Friday? In this case, find the Store with the shortest line and prepare to wait – the earlier the better. One Apple Store or one Best Buy Here’s where it gets tricky. It should surprise no one that Apple Stores on product launch days are like jars of honey where we’re the swarming bees waiting for our turn. Unfortunately, we’ve heard a lot of horror stories over the years from people that stood in line only to be turned away because everything sold out. With this in mind, we suggest standing in line at an Apple Store only if you plan on doing so 24-36 hours beforehand. In other words, if you’re idea of standing in line is to arrive two hours before the doors open, you could be out of luck. For Best Buy, our advice is the same, but more so. Typically, Best Buys don’t have near the inventory as Apple Stores nor the selection. In the past, for example, we’ve heard from many readers complaining that their local Best Buy didn’t offer one or more models at all. Unfortunately, customers don’t know this until after the doors open. Like with Apple Stores, we suggest standing in line early and be prepared to buy whatever iPhone 4S that is offered once you’re at the head of the line. Avoid Carrier Stores – If You Can Carriers aren’t necessarily the best place to get a new Apple handset on launch day. Of course, it’s possible, but the selection isn’t always good. In fact, we’ve heard of some AT&T stores in the past that didn’t even have Apple’s latest model on the first day. Therefore, avoid them, if you can. The Little Secret If you really want an iPhone 4S on Friday and don’t really have time to stand in line, nor care, which model you’ll get, visit your local Wal-Mart. We’ve found this often works and many times the lines are short or non-existent. Summary Good luck finding your iPhone 4S on Friday. Remember, our tips aren’t science but rather our suggestions.
