Inside iOS 5 ($0.99) by Kwant Developing is a simple informational app that explains new features included in iOS 5 to users. Although it does not market itself to beginners, Inside iOS 5 caters to novice iDevice users and is not for people with lots of experience using Apple products.

The app divides the new features of iOS 5 into thirteen categories, each with their own subsections. Every subsection has its own page. On these pages the app briefly describes the new feature, and tells you “what to do” to activate the feature. The majority of the pages include screen captures.

Although the idea behind the app is very appealing, after using the app you can’t help but get the feeling that it was a little rushed into the App Store. The majority of the information is common sense to users; only a few of the highlighted features were noteworthy. The description of the features was often times too short, and did not have enough information.

The app is very well designed visually, but the contents are not very extensive. With Apple claiming over 200 changes in iOS 5, there should be more features highlighted in this app.

For first time users, there are options. Spend $0.99 on Inside iOS 5, or go to apple.com and read their feature descriptions. If you are a veteran iDevice user, don’t bother with this app.
