PhatPad, the popular and powerful iPad note-taking app by PhatWare, has been updated to v1.5, which adds a handful of options that should make its handwriting recognition even better. To celebrate this latest release, PhatWare has dropped the price of PhatPad to a measly $.99 for a limited time. The new and improved PhatPad includes the latest version of PhatWare's WritePad handwriting recognition technology, allowing you to import words into the user dictionary from your iPad's contacts and events in a snap. You can find this feature by accessing the Tools menu, PhatPad options, and then scrolling down until you see Recognizer Data. In this menu you'll find "Import Words from Contacts & Events." Tapping on this option will bring all of the unknown words from your Contacts and Calendar apps right into PhatPad. PhatPad v1.5 also allows you to choose from three different main dictionaries: English (United States), English (Great Britain), and Medical (United States). The first two are available free of charge and can be toggled between at any time. The Medical Pack will set you back $4.99, and it includes 225,000 medical dictionary words. The additional dictionaries aren't just for handwriting recognition, however, they will also help PhatPad identify misspelled words and help auto-complete words when applicable. The new features listed above are in addition to all of PhatPad's previous ones, some of which include the ability to convert handwritten notes into text, sync files via iTunes File Sharing or Dropbox, share files locally over Wi-Fi, print via AirPrint, and standard editing commands like undo, cut, copy, and paste. If you have been waiting to give PhatPad a try but found its original $7.99 price point too steep, there's no better time than the present to pick it up. PhatPad will be available at its new $.99 price point all of the way up until October 18.
