Evri for iPad (Free) by Evri gathers current topics from around the world and delivers them in a single package.

The categories include Top News, Entertainment, Sports, Business, and Technology. Selecting any of them will bring up the current topics. Select a topic, and you can swipe through a stream of related articles. There’s not much difference in viewing the articles in portrait or landscape mode, so orient your iPad however you’d like.

The developers market the app as a solution for filtering through the clutter on the Web to bring up relevant articles. The articles are set against a wooden background with black banners at the top and bottom of the screen.

Within the banners you can choose to follow the topic, get info from Wikipedia, refresh, and access the settings.

You can link your Twitter account to make it its own channel. It will take some time to build the channel, depending on how many people you follow.

Once the process finishes, you’ll see tweets of those you follow at the top of the page, while any linked articles or pictures show below it. Three related topics will show on the side, which will load articles based on that.

The Facebook channel works the same way, though I found that my friends’ posts didn’t include as many related topics on the side as the Twitter channel.

Perhaps my biggest gripe with both channels is that you need to flip through each post one by one, without any idea of what will come up next. This is especially frustrating if you follow people “just because” and you’re only seeing his or her posts.

While this is a nice app with great visual appeal, it did crash on me at least twice when trying to load an article. It appears similar complaints can be found on the app’s App Store page.

Those who want a feed of articles and don’t care where they get it will appreciate this app. If you always look to a certain source for news, you would probably do better to see it in Flipboard, or some other RSS app.

Evri is at least worth since it's free in the App Store.
