Haunted Domains HD ($2.99) by Alawar Entertainment, Inc is bringing some spooky Halloween fun to the time management genre this year, with a brand new hotel management game.
In Haunted Domains, you serve as the manager of a haunted hotel, tending to the every need of hungry ghosts, cat-toting witches, and thirsty vampires. You’ll check in customers, haul luggage, serve dinner, fetch books, and clean, all to keep your creepy guests happy.
Like any hotel management game, first you will drag guests to their rooms (keeping in mind color bonuses), and then tend to their needs. Different guests will request different sequential items. For example, a ghost will ask for two dinners and check out, while a vampire will request two drinks and a book before leaving.
It’s important to keep these orders in mind to get the highest multiple item bonuses. You will want to serve food to all hungry guests at one time, and then drinks all at once in order to get the highest score.
Money earned during each level is used to buy upgrades for the hotel, like faster elevators and decorations that increase guest patience. Every 10 levels the upgrades will reset and you will move to a new wing.
There’s also a star collection, and stars are used to upgrade the exterior of the hotel. This is yet another measure of score and not important to the actual gameplay. In all, there are 50 levels, and each one increases in difficulty. By level 20, it’s an organizational frenzy that takes some skill to keep up with.
Haunted Domains isn’t bringing anything new to the table besides a spooky facade, but Alawar does time management well and fans of the genre will want to pick this one up for some great, classic fun with a haunting twist.
Haunted Domains is available for both the iPad and the iPhone. The iPhone version is $1.99 and the iPad version is$2.99.
