Red Green And Blue Have Never Sounded So Good
RgbSoundPro ($2.99) by Francesco Cricchio is a visual music sequencer that lets you tap your way to a dance beat that your friends will go crazy for. With sound import and track export capabilities, your mixing arsenal just got bigger.
When you first open the app, you are shown a quick tutorial of how to make and loop sounds, how to change the pitch, volume and speed, and how to change the set of sounds in each table.
Once you start tapping, you won’t want to stop. Tap one color to hear a beat. Tap another to hear an electronic sound. Play different beats in a loop by tapping a color with two fingers. Swipe up or down to change the speed. Change the color table by tapping one of the tabs that sits between colors. There are four different tables, each with six different sounds. If you shake your device, the table will change to a completely different set of sounds. If you tap the center of the app, you will see an overall pitch accelerator, a spinning reset button and six gray squares. When you tap one of the squares it will save the current track that you have created. To delete a track, hold the square until it goes gray again. There are triangles at the bottom corners of the screen that allow you to adjust the beat while a sound is being looped.
Using color to help get you in the dancing mood, RgbSoundPro lets you create a plethora of mixes that can be saved and shared easily through iTunes file sharing. Importing your own sounds can be a bit more complicated, but if you are familiar with creating WAV files, the rest is explained on the app’s summary page.
As music mix-making apps go, this one is top-notch. You will spend hours creating spectacular mixes to share with others. Visually, it is engaging and keeps the beats happening. Because it is a universal app, you can play one set of sounds on your iPad while playing another set of sounds on your iPhone. Download it for only $2.99 in the App Store.
