Siri Takes Center Stage In Apple's Newest TV Commercial

October 21, 2011
I was watching game two of the World Series -- Nice ninth inning, Cards! -- when I first saw Apple's new Siri spot flash across the big screen. For anyone familiar with the current crop of Apple ads, the short production is appropriately demonstrative of the newest iPhone's revolutionary personal assistant. Check it out: While most folks are digging the primetime demo, I'm not so keen on it. Sure, it's as apt as you'd expect, and there's nothing particularly wrong with it. It's just that, somehow, Siri's abrupt, robotic lilt kind of ruins the natural flow of the clear, human voices asking her for help.  I know, I know -- It's going to be quite a while 'til Apple can condense and deliver Lion's high-quality, Nuance-sourced text-to-speech engine to iOS devices, but Siri's just a little too off in her delivery for my OS X-spoiled tastes.  Do you like what you hear?
