The iPhone 4S Benchmark Scores Are In

October 11, 2011
We've got more benchmark tests to report for the iPhone 4S, this time courtesy of AnandTech. Not surprising, the new handset scores a lot better than its predecessors in a number of ways. Still, in one test the iPad 2 actually scores better, for good reason. According to the report, the iPhone 4S has better Javascript and CPU performance, versus Android devices and the iPhone 4, respectively. In addition, the iPhone 4S has significant browser gains over existing iPhones and other smartphones. Still, the iPhone 4S’s benchmarks don't overtake those for the iPad 2, even though both use the same A5 chipset. However, keep in mind the iPhone 4S is running at 800 MHz rather than 1 GHz. As such, Apple is likely making the handset run a bit slower for improved battery life and lower heat. AnandTech has quite of bit of information here. For those interested in these types of tests, we suggest visiting the website. As a reminder, iPhone 4S preorders are ongoing right now. Apple's fifth handset arrives on Friday.
