WSJ: New iPhone Not 4G, But Sprint Will Join Parade

October 4, 2011
The next iPhone being introduced today won’t be 4G-capable, but it will be introduced through an additional U.S. carrier for the first time. This news, the latest on the iPhone, comes from The Wall Street Journal, who we consider a very reliable source. According to the report, the iPhone 4S/5 will remain a 3G iDevice, like its last three predecessors. Therefore, don't expect a 4G-capable iPhone until at least 2012. Both AT&T and Verizon are rolling out higher-speed 4G networks. However, neither are yet the standard. In other news, The Wall Street Journal confirms that Sprint Nextel will join AT&T and Verizon as U.S. iPhone carriers. T-Mobile, according to the report, will not get the iPhone this time around. The Journal didn’t not comment on what bells and whistles the newest iPhone would bring.
