A Chance To Win Zombie Squad For Your iPhone Or iPad

November 1, 2011
AppAdvice has once again teamed up with Banzai Labs in order to offer you a chance to win one of 40 promo codes for the new and improved version of Zombie Squad ($.99) for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. In Zombie Squad, you’re required to lead a group of elite soldiers into battle against zombie hordes in order to rescue the few survivors of the zombie apocalypse. But don’t let the doodle graphics fool you, this is as much of a strategy game as it is an arcade game thanks to the amount of control you have over your soldiers and civilians. The game can be played two ways: defensively or offensively. In the defensive missions, zombies begin their attack the moment your soldiers’ feet hit the ground, so you must be ready to put them into action. You’re able to move your soldiers around the screen by drawing lines from them to wherever you would like them to go. They will automatically fire upon zombies that are within range, but you can also tap and hold your finger on a zombie to manually direct the fire of your entire group. The offensive missions play more like a top-down dual-stick shooter. The missions allow you to take direct control of vehicles and helicopters to mow down zombies from afar. Once the area is cleared out, you can dismount and deploy your troops to finish off the zombies. At any time you can round up your troops to take back to the air or hit the road. Your soldiers do have a limited amount of health and ammo, but they can be recharged with vehicles or outposts. If a machine gun, shotgun, or mini gun does run out of ammo, your soldiers are smart enough to use one of their close combat fallback weapons. Soldiers that are fixed to outposts or vehicles have an unlimited supply of ammo, however. During combat you’ll want to keep an eye out for civilians because getting them safely to a vehicle or outpost will earn you bonus points. If a civilian does succumb to a zombie attack, however, they’ll turn into one of those ghastly beasts themselves. Civilians can be directed using the same line-drawing mechanic. Zombie Squad includes eight increasingly difficult maps, full stat tracking, and Game Center leaderboards.
