Netflix App Gets UI Overhaul Comes To iPad Soon, Android Tablets Today

November 15, 2011
Today Netflix announced that they have "fully redesigned" the company's app for tablets. After looking at the screenshot, we are glad to see the "recently watched" area on the front page, it will definitely save us a few taps when navigating through the app. Currently the redesign is live on Android tablets, including Barnes & Noble's Nook as well as Amazon's Kindle Fire. One of the app's bigger enhancements is that you can now see more movies and shows when browsing, making content selection easier. The blog post goes on to say:
The new design is much more immersive and provides greater focus on the growing number of titles in the Netflix catalog. In fact, the new interface displays twice as many movies and TV shows as before, enabling you to discover even more titles you'll love. Also, we've taken greater advantage of the tablet's unique features, inviting you to swipe through rows of titles featuring larger artwork.
Netflix said iPad owners should see the user interface update in the coming weeks and we'll be sure to let you know the minute it launches. No word yet on whether the changes will come to the iPhone. It's nice to see Netflix do something right after a slew of recent public relations mishaps. Qwikster anyone?
