Everplaces: The World According To You
Everplaces (Free) by Everplaces is a beautifully designed iPhone app that allows you to create your own, personalized map of the world.
You must sign-up to use Everplaces. You can do so from the app, or from the Web. This service has a Web interface that will sync with the iPhone app, so you can keep your favorite places with you wherever you go.
Use your current location to add places, or just a certain place on the map or an address. You even have the ability to save and view your places offline in a list view.
Add your favorite places to visit or new venues to your to-do list that you want to try out. Categorize these venues, tag them, add images, and even make notes about them.
Although you can share your places via Facebook, Twitter, SMS, or email, there isn't a way to add any "friends" in the app. What I mean is, it's not a location app like Foursquare or Gowalla, instead you primarily keep your places to yourself.
However, if other people find the places you've recommended, other people using Everplaces that is, they can view the notes and photos that you left for that particular venue.
It's a shame this app isn't more useful given its design is so gorgeous and easy to use. I thought it would at least compete with Foursquare and Gowalla, but it's really not the same thing at all. It lacks more functionality, especially a more social aspect.
Everplaces is available in the App Store for free. I would hope that they would add more social options, like friends, in the future. Right now it lacks depth, but it definitely shows promise.
