Infinite Quiz (Free) by Planeto AB bills itself as the first Facebook-integrated, role-playing quiz game where you: level up, find treasure, and use power ups to answer a slew of questions on a variety of topics.
The game uses typical question categories that you would find in most trivia games, like: science and nature, literature, sports, movies, criminals, places, and popular culture. Questions range from ridiculously easy to fairly difficult.
Unfortunately, most of the questions are easy to reason out, even if you don’t know the answers, because the backup questions are just silly. For example:
What metallic element is also a planet in the solar system? A. Chromium, B. Mercury, C. Europium, D. Lawrencium.
While you can play without logging into Facebook, Facebook Connect is needed in order to save your high scores and to compete against your friends. I was disappointed to find that I could not connect with friends iPhone to iPhone, because I don’t play Facebook games.
On the plus side, there are over 14,000 questions, which is a lot of gameplay. You would need to play for quite awhile before seeing a repeated question. While the element of power ups isn’t exactly unique in trivia games (cards that let you skip a question or earn extra time), I did like the achievements and the equipment.
I unearthed a “Turtleneck Shirt of Treasures,” which awarded me with an extra 0.187 chance of finding more treasures. There are many such items in the game, which gives trivia playing a whole new dimension.
Some of the power ups can be used regularly, which will cost gold. Skipping a question costs five gold, while eliminating two answers costs 20 gold. Of course, you can buy more gold through in-app purchases. Other power ups are more powerful and can be used just once, such as the power up that limits the next six questions to the science and nature category.
If you regularly play Facebook games and like to compete with friends, this is a great game to download. I was disappointed in the quality and the content of some of the questions, but it was fun to pick up and play every once in awhile.
