Infect The Human Race With The Hunger For Brains In Zombie Swing
Zombie Swing (Free) by althi Inc. is a fast-paced action game for the iPhone ... with zombies. This one is different, though. Instead of killing the zombies and saving the human race, you are a zombie and you're trying to infect everyone you can touch.
What is a zombie swing, you ask? Well, you play a zombie whose body is able to detach in two parts, connected only by the intestines. Then you are able to swing his top half around while still running manically through the streets trying to infect the innocent people. The goal is to turn as many people into zombies as you can before you die … again.
You automatically run forward, so your only job is to touch the screen and move your finger around to swing your character into the fleeing humans. Once you touch them, they immediately turn into zombies themselves. However, you'll have to avoid the mines that are randomly dispersed throughout the game. If you hit one, it will explode and you will lose a life. But, don't worry too much, they look like buttons on the floor, and say "Watch Out!" above them. Your lives are on the top of screen represented by tiny brain icons.
There are also power-ups you can obtain from defeating the giant pieces of machinery along the way. They will pop up on your screen and you have to tap them to collect them. They will then be stored in the upper left of you screen; from there, just tap to activate them.
One of the power-ups has a zombie head on it. This causes all of the people you just turned into zombies — the ones behind you — to come stampeding forward, infecting, and trampling the screaming humans.
I don't like that once your three lives are up and the game ends, you're told to "tap the ad to continue." This redirects you to the App Store to purchase an app. To get around this nonsense, just tap the button near the bottom to start over again.
The game seemed rather short at first, as I seemed to die too quickly. I think this was because I didn't know to avoid the mines as the directions weren't very clear. But once I got the hang of it it was addictive. It's fast-paced and the graphics and animations make it even more fun.
Zombie Swing is available for free in the App Store. Unfortunately, there is no iPad version of this game, but it does have Game Center support.
So, go my children. Spread your hunger for brains and never look back.
