Quirky App Of The Day: Texts From Oscar Wilde

November 30, 2011
Oscar Wilde was a great author who was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1854 and died in Paris, France in 1900. While some of his lifestyle choices were interesting for the time, his plays and novels are still well regarded in today's literary world. While I spend most of my time being a sarcastic and critical writer, I do have some formal training in literature. Therefore, when I found an app that has Oscar Wilde quotes, I thought it would be awesome to spread some classical literature love to my readers. Texts From Oscar Wilde is a compilation of famous quotes from the man who brought us Dorian Gray.

I enjoy reading about his theories on the importance of art, in any form. It's good to be reminded that not everything in life revolves around being scientifically useful. I also enjoyed the picture that the developers used and the speech bubble at the top of the app. The man definitely knew how to dress. He also knew how to make the most of his last words. He famously said, "My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or other of us has got to go." Since people tend to commemorate and preserve places where famous people have died, I'm betting that the wallpaper is still there. Texts From Oscar Wilde is a universal app available in the App Store for the awesome price of FREE!
