Siri Can Now Launch OS X Applications As Well - Thanks To iTeleport

November 8, 2011
One of the top-selling VNC clients for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad has recently received a significant update. iTeleport 5.2 allows users to control their Mac using simple voice commands, according to news first published by MacStories. First launched for iPhone in July 2008, the universal iTeleport: VNC app makes connecting to computers from iDevices seamless. With its latest update, the iTeleport: VNC process is even more impressive, at least for iPhone 4S owners. iTeleport 5.2 offers these users the ability to use Siri to control the desktop. According to MacStories:
The developers have apparently figured out a way to parse dictated commands directly inside the app to let it recognize installed applications, and launch them in seconds. In my tests, voice recognition in iTeleport has been as good as you’d expect from regular Siri, and app names such as Evernote, Google Chrome, iTunes and Sparrow were recognized instantly.
While this feature is only currently available for Mac owners, it is supposed to arrive for Windows very soon. The $19.99 iTeleport: VNC app is available now in the App Store. The free iTeleport Connect application is available via the iTeleport website.
