The Best New And Updated iPad Apps Of The Week, November 6-12, 2011

November 13, 2011
AppAdvice iPad App Of The Week: Blueprint 3D HD, Released November 10, $2.99 FDG Entertainment Releases Blueprint 3D, A Puzzle Game With More Depth Than Ever Before FDG Entertainment, the creators of titles such as Cover Orange and Beyond Ynth, brings you another puzzler, Blueprint 3D, one that takes place in multiple dimensions. When I heard the name Blueprint 3D, I didn't know what to expect. But now that I've had a chance to try it, I can say without any doubt that Blueprint 3D is one of the most unique puzzle games I've ever experienced. Honestly, not even the clever title will prepare you for what this app offers. In this game, you're required to make the blueprints of buildings, digital age devices, medieval weaponry, objects related to astronomy, and so on appear in their original form. The pieces of each blueprint exist on all three axises of three-dimensional space. Using a single finger, you can spin the entire set of pieces on all axises. When controlling the area with two fingers, the pieces only turn on one axis. Your goal is to determine which way to rotate these supposedly chaotic groups of lines so that the final perspective creates a 2-D schematic of an object: SIM card, battle axe, etc. New Releases ShopSmart by Billeo, Released November 8, Free ShopSmart App For iPad Arrives - Helping You Save Big Bucks This Holiday Season Billeo, Inc. has announced the immediate availability of its new ShopSmart app for iPad. The free app searches for deals across your rewards and loyalty programs while you surf the web making it easier to find immediate deals. Billeo’s unique technology searches through the myriad, and often complicated, discounts and deals offered by a shopper’s loyalty and reward programs and then displays relevant offers that can be applied to an item immediately via the merchant’s website. Overlaid on top of existing sales and deals from top merchants, shoppers can often take advantage of double-or triple-dip savings – including cash back, additional points, and other rewards. ShopSmart also helps shopper’s manage their accounts from popular daily deal services, like Groupon, and allows them to share offers and get friends’ feedback via Facebook on purchasing decisions. Updated Condition ONE, Updated November 9, Free Condition ONE Could Change The Movie Viewing Experience A new iPad app arrives today that could someday change how each of us watch movies. Condition ONE uses the iPad 2’s built-in gyroscope to let users physically control the camera’s perspective in movies simply by moving around the iDevice. The end result is quite remarkable. Created by photojournalist Danfung Dennis, the 210 MB app creates a visceral feeling of being inside a video. As such, merely rotating and tipping the iPad 2 manipulates the corresponding field of view as you see fit. This includes looking up, down, left, right, and diagonally in any direction. We found the technology here so immersive that we were convinced that by saying “cut” it would stop the action dead in its tracks. Yes, we found it that good! The 911 Memorial: Past, Present and Future, Updated November 11, $.99 On This U.S. Veteran's Day, 911 Memorial App Gains Huge Update When it arrived in early September, The 911 Memorial: Past, Present and Future app climbed immediately to the top of the App Store listings and with good reason. Now, on this Veteran’s Day (11/11/11), the app has received its first significant upgrade and now includes features requested by users. Available for $.99, the iPad app is the creation of noted writer-director Steve Rosenbaum and documents New York’s World Trade Center before, during, and after the attacks of September 11, 2001. The app includes hundreds of still photographs and hours of video clips, some of which are available on Rosenbaum’s CameraPlanet archive and 2002 documentary, 7 Days in September. With its 2.0 update, the app now includes text, photos, and videos from the other locations hit by planes on that horrific day, Shanksville, PA and The Pentagon. In addition, the update includes:
  • Explore The Memorial - The Names Parapet (with video and photos)
  • Gallery: Opening Day at the 911 Memorial
