There are a lot of apps that help you learn vocabulary, but these three apps, created by Chambers, are designed a bit differently. They all have quizzes you can take to help you learn more quickly, word scrambles, and a dictionary filled with the words given in the app.
Chambers 200 Words You Should Use is aimed at providing you with impressive, but practical words you can use every day, whereas, the purpose of
200 Words You Shouldn’t Use is to provide with you with words you should steer clear of. Whether they are overused, misused, or just plain confusing.
The last app,
200 Words You Shouldn’t Trust, helps us understand those words that are tricky to remember. From what the app calls “weasely words,” to words that are just, well, awkward. This app is full of these gems; most of which journalists use on a daily basis (don’t even get me started on this list).
All in all, these apps are very helpful to those studying for vocabulary tests, or just wanting to widen their knowledge of the English language as a whole, all in an effective way. Rather than bombarding you with big words that no one will know the meaning of, these apps provide you with the tools to help you learn the words that matter and weed out the ones that don’t.
Although I think all three apps should be bundled together as one, you are able to open the others through whichever one you happen to have open (given you own all of the apps), which is pretty neat.
I think that they should be one app because paying $1.99 for each of these is a bit much to me. I, personally, wouldn’t pay $5.99 for all of these because I don’t have a specific need for them. However, if these apps are tools that you will use and need, they are designed well and serve their purpose.
