Create Your Own Muppet With Muppet Mail Lite
Disney Muppet Mail Lite (Free) by Disney is a must-download if you’re a fan of the Muppets! You can actually create a personalized Muppet on your iPad and email it to your friends or post it to your Facebook wall.
Open the app and tap “Muppet Maker”. Here you’ll be prompted to Start With A Picture or Pick Your Own Parts. I would suggest starting with a picture; you can always change any parts you don’t like later. You have the option to take a photo in-app or choose one from your camera roll. Center your face into the given rectangle, and tap “Make a Muppet”. You’ll be prompted to choose a gender, then just sit back and let the magic happen!
Once you have your muppet, you can make any adjustments you like. Note the icons below for head, body, eyes, nose, hair, facial hair, outfit, and accessories. Go ahead an tweak your Muppet to perfection. Once you have your Muppet exactly as you’d like, tap “Share this Card”. Double tap on the text box to write a short message and adjust the font, color, and size. Tap “Share this Card” again to bring up the options to share via Email or Facebook.
You can also view the trailer for the movie, The Muppets, within the app. Upgrade to the paid version to make your Muppet talk and create cards with the actual Muppets (together with your own).
The ads are only for the upgraded app, and not intrusive. The user interface could really be better: I found myself “losing” my text repeatedly and having to re-write it every time I wanted to make a slight adjustment. Also, it would be nice if you could adjust the items you add to your Muppet, more than just “on” or “off”. Some of the accessories just don’t fit right. And I’d like to see more choices for hairstyles, as none of them remotely resemble my own.
Still, this app is a whole lot of fun for a free app! In fact, my co-worker Jamie couldn’t resist bogarting my iPad to create her own “Jamuppet”. Download this iPad app for the kids in your life — or the kids at heart.
