First Look: Toca Kitchen

The team behind the popular Toca Boca iOS games for children is getting ready to release their most comprehensive app to date. Toca Kitchen arrives in the App Store on December 15. Luckily, AppAdvice was given a first look at what is sure to be a very popular kids game ahead of the December holidays.
Like previous Toca Boca games, Toca Kitchen is simple to use and provides hours of fun to the preschool crowd. Where previous Toca Boca games included a visit to the doctor, store, or hair salon, Toca Kitchen stays closer to home. The goal is to find one of game characters something to eat. Characters include a boy, girl, and two funny looking animals.
Foods, which include vegetables, fruits, and pieces of meat, sit in the refrigerator. From here, the child places one or more items on the plate. Be careful – to make the character happy, preparing the food the right way is key. Otherwise, they frown and become upset.
For this, Toca Kitchen offers five ways to prepare the meal – using a knife, food processor, frying pan, a pot for boiling water, and a microwave. For example, a character may be in the mood for a thick steak. To prepare the meat, place it into the frying pan where its color will change from pink to brown. Or, perhaps they are craving some steamed broccoli. To do this, place the vegetable in the pot for a few minutes.
When the Toca Kitchen character eats their food, they'll let you know whether they like it. If they don’t, simply go back to the refrigerator, select some food, and try again.
