When Sheep And Puzzles Collide You Get Flick Sheep! HD
Flick Sheep! HD ($1.99) by Orca Inc. puts your shepherding skills to use as you try to match up all the like sheep. This puzzle game is similar to “car-freeing” games, such as Aces Traffic Pack Classic HD.
Your sheep start out in a pen with a grid. Just swipe in any direction, which activates the barking of your border collie. The sheep will then move together in the direction of the swipe. Getting all of the like sheep together will take some thinking and (if you’re like me) a lot of swiping back and forth.
Once you manage to get all of one kind of sheep adjacent to each other, they will be eliminated, allowing you to focus on the next match to make. Sometimes a domino effect will occur, where one batch of sheep disappears, leaving immediate room for another match to be made.
In addition to the task of matching the sheep, obstacles, such as bubbles, boxes, and switches, present a challenge as well.
A boy watching you manage the sheep can offer hints (don’t ask me why he’s wearing a cape). The hints are going to cost a star credit, though. Stars can be obtained by either perfectly completing a level, or by (surprise, surprise) an in-app purchase.
The hint only turns out to be the boy suggesting a single direction to swipe for moving the sheep.
For those wanting to see how smart they compared to their friends, Game Center integration is offered, along with possible achievements to earn. With 90 levels spread over six chapters, this game will probably keep you entertained for a while.
The game is fun, though the barking dog and sheep whining gets old pretty quick. Turning off the sound from the main page wouldn’t be a bad idea. Otherwise, the challenging puzzles, cute animation, and whimsical music all combine to make a great package.
