Customize Photo Frames With Imikimi HD
imikimi HD Photo Frames & Effects ($4.99) by Imikimi, LLC provides a robust photo frame editor to enhance your pictures. And it's pronounced "immy-kimmy."
The setup is simple: select a picture frame ("Kimi") and insert your own photo from Facebook, your photo library, or your iPad 2 camera. However, you have plenty of options available from there.
Add digital "fx," such as grayscale, glow, flip, spherize, or (my favorite) low-rez. A slider above the options gives you control over how drastic you want the fx to be. Erasing and painting fx means you can either take away parts of the fx, or add on to what you've already changed.
With over 2.6 million Kimis available across 400 different categories, with more being added every day, there is most certainly the right Kimi for you. The "face cutouts" one is particularly fun.
Those inclined to make their own Kimi can do so, but that requires registering on the Imikimi website and downloading the required broswer plugin.
Sharing includes email, posting to Facebook, saving it to the photo library, or using it as wallpaper.
To take your Imikimi even further, you could make it an actual glossy postcard through the Touchnote app. Using that combination, you could customize your own professional-looking holiday cards to send to friends and family. There are plenty of holiday Kimis to choose from.
You could even give it a try with the lite version.
My only complaint about the app is the layout of the buttons within the interface. At times you are selecting options on the top, while other times they are at the bottom. A lack of autosave means anytime you hit the wrong button to go back to the menu results in a message asking if you want to abandon changes.
Overall, this is a versatile tool for creating and sharing your own framed masterpieces.
