Add Some Professional Finishing Touches To Your Holiday Videos With Intro Designer

Intro Designer ($3.99) by dgMotion Mobile is a perfect companion for other video editing apps, such as iMovie. With Intro Designer, you can quickly create HD quality intro movies, openings, end credits, announcements, and more, all with the provided templates.

When you launch the application, there is a quick tutorial overlay that will quickly get you acquainted with the program. It’s pretty quick, though I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. When you create a new project, there will be another help guide to explain the process of creating an intro movie.

When you create a new project, you can browse through the available templates for your video. There are several categories, including: Celebrate, Family, Simple, Sports, Shows, Abstract, and more. Some templates will need a one-time download before you can actually do anything.

I thought this was a bit cumbersome, and the progress bar vanishes if you browse through other categories while it’s downloading, so you can’t see the current progress. However, once you download a template once, you don’t need to download it again unless you remove the app for whatever reason and install it again.

Once a template is downloaded, you can choose it and work with it. Each template is a brief video, and you can customize the project title, add a photo in the video (if it allows it), and edit the text. When editing the text, you can also choose from several different fonts, make the text smaller or bigger, and even reposition the text. At any moment, you can preview your intro video by tapping on the play button at the top. This will show you exactly what your video will look like (all your changes appear immediately in the video) before you export it.

Once you’re done with a video, you can export it in three sizes: 640x360, 960x540, and 1280x720. Toggles for the music and sound effects are there, in case you would rather use your own music or sound in a desktop video editing program, such as iMovie or Final Cut Pro. The final exported video will end up in your Camera Roll.

This is a great little app that can help you create professional-looking intro videos for your creations. I absolutely love the interface, as it’s simple and minimal, but looks gorgeous at the same time. The latest update brought in a Christmas template, which is great considering that Christmas is here in five days.

If you were planning to make a Christmas video of your festivities this upcoming weekend, then you should probably give Intro Designer a try. It will make a great finishing touch for your holiday videos, as well as any other projects during the year.

For those that would like to sample the app before dropping $4 on it, there is also a Lite version available in the App Store.
