Save The Dame And Get The Bills Paid In The Detective Pinball Adventure, Plus Win A Copy
Pinball City NY HD ($3.99) by AnotherWay2Play is a stylish new pinball game for the iPad that sets the story in 1920s New York and is full of intrigue and mystery. Ricochet steel balls to solve the mystery of the missing dame in this high definition adventure.
The pinball machine looks like the 1933 classic movie, "King Kong." The plot of the game is like a noir style detective story. As the pinball knocks over crooks, rolls into taxis and hides out in the Empire State Building, the clues are discovered and the mystery unfolds.
The game is in black and white to add to the gritty noir atmosphere. There are clever dialog and complimentary sound effects to flush out and intriguing storyline. The gameplay is smooth, although the bumpers tend to lack a little in responsiveness. There is a “nudging” feature that allows players to simulate the act of shoving the pinball table and will even tilt if pushed too often.
The camera angle default is a follow the ball style, however, that feature can be turned off. When using the stationary camera angle, the playing field is a bit far away, but it is easier on the eyes.
Overall, this iPad-only pinball adventure is beautifully rendered with an exciting and mysterious storyline. The gameplay is smooth, even though the bumpers tend to be just a tad slow. The price tag is on the high end, but fans of pinball will get a kick out of the adventure that awaits. Pick it up in the App Store for $3.99
