Scribblenauts Remix Updated: iPhone 4S Users Can Now Use Speech To Create Objects In Game

December 8, 2011
In October, we reviewed the iOS version of the popular Nintendo DS game, Scribblenauts Remix. Scribblenauts is an innovative game where you play the character Maxwell and solve puzzles by creating anything you can imagine. Just think it, type it in, and the object or person will appear in the game to help you pass each level. Pretty neat, huh? Well, today Scribblenauts Remix was updated. Not only does it come with a holiday theme, but any of you iPhone 4S owners will get to try out a new aspect of the game — using your voice to create objects. That's right, you can now create objects by simply yelling at your phone. Okay, maybe not yelling; but I was excited about the update so I yelled at it. Just tap the microphone on the keyboard when you're preparing to create an item and speak instead of type.
Unfortunately, the update seems to be a bit buggy. Not only did the game freeze up on me a few times, but when I tapped the microphone to test out creating objects through speech, the microphone popped up, but disappeared quickly. This only happened one time, though. I was able to use the microphone to play otherwise. Hopefully, the kinks will be worked out soon. Scribblenauts version 1.2 also includes 180 degree device rotation on the iPhone and iPod touch. My favorite word to use in Scribblnauts is "carnivore." That always makes the levels interesting. What's yours? Scribblenauts Remix is available in the App Store for $2.99 as a universal app. Let us know if the game is working for you, and what device you're playing it on, in the comments below.
