Wenzani Offers Real-Time Travel Recommendations On The iPhone

December 5, 2011
Lonely Planet, the travel publisher and website operator, has released a new app that combines professional travel advice with opinions from your online friends. Wenzani, which means, “What are you doing?” in Zulu, arrived today in the App Store. From the start, Wenzani offers real-time (and location-based) travel recommendations from Time Out, Frommer’s Travel, BBC Travel, Eyewitness Guides, and of course, its own line of Lonely Planet guides, among others. Because Wenzani also integrates with Facebook and Twitter, the content is always changing and personalized. This combination means Wenzani feels much more authentic than once-a-year travel books do on their own. According to a posting on the Wenzani Blog:
How many times do you find yourself out and about and wondering where the best places might be to eat, drink, hang out or hear some music? Or maybe, just a fun place to take the kids? Wenzani takes traditional expert advice (guides and listings) and steps it up by offering instantly updated information with relevant recommendations. It uses your location as well as a secret sauce algorithm to serve up places and events curted just for you. It also supplements the advice of experts with great picks from your friends and allows you to instantly share your experiences as they happen.

What is most remarkable is the above-mentioned providers are working in unison. After all, they are typically competitors. However, in this case, they are working as a team to provide a one-stop travel guide like no other. Most surprisingly, the app is absolutely free. Wenzani is available now in the App Store.
