Apple To Make Education Announcement Next Thursday In New York

January 11, 2012
Media outlet invitations confirm that Apple will be having a special event this Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The invitation, featuring a silhouette of the New York skyline and trademark Apple logo, casually reveals that an "education announcement" will be made. The event is small scale in comparison to other Apple events, and an announcement of a new iPad or other hardware is not expected.  We have been speculating that this event will most likely be related to iBooks in one way or another. According to many media sources, such as The Washington Post, the leading theory is that the event will hopefully be about the arrival of textbooks on iDevices.

According to The New York Times, Steve Jobs told his biographer, Walter Isaacson, that he viewed textbooks as a business he wanted to transform. We are sure that if Apple were to transform textbooks, they would make the wasteful, bulky, dog-eared textbooks of today history. They can join the chalk and slate of yore. Of course, knowing Apple, it could be related to new ways of teaching how to utilize the iDevice and Mac. With its long history of partnering with education to find new ways to learn, Apple might just be finding ways to expand on prior projects such as working at the Punahau School. What do you think the announcement will be? Let us know in the comments.
