Fury Balls: Worlds of Chaos ($0.99) by Curvature Studios is a ball maze game not unlike the one you had as a kid, only this universal version is from the pits of Hades, or at least some other forsaken environment where balls can be blown up, turned into zombies or struck by lightning. Good luck trying to get all of those steel spheres into the hole when a giant magnet comes down and snatches them away.

The game starts out fairly easy to play with a handful of steel balls rolling around on the labyrinth-like board. Once all balls have made it into a hole, the level ends. Great job. Each subsequent level incorporates some manner of mayhem to throw players off, turning it into a world of chaos. For example, there are bouncing balls, giant boulders, exploding traps and rotating cogs to keep you from your goal.

On top of the difficulty players face with the onslaught of obstacles, the game is timed. If all balls are not nestled into a hole within 45 seconds, the game is over. There are bonus items that will add five seconds to the clock, but they are few and far between.

Players can create and play custom-made obstacle courses by selecting from 14 different objects, like tornados, magnets, black holes and lasers as well as adding one of nine different ball types, including laser and zombie. Some of the items are free and some can be unlocked with the stars that are earned from within the game.

The user interface needs improvement. There is no ability to restart a level. If you lose, you are able to replay the same level immediately, but if you want to try another one, you must quit the entire game and go all the way back to the start menu.

The balls roll around the board at an unnaturally slow pace. This is nice because it makes the game easier to play. However, it would be more challenging with the ability to increase the speed at which the balls move around on the board.

In the custom screen, there is a problem with selecting items. The bottom three slots that are designated for additional balls cannot be selected because whenever they are tapped, the obstacle menu pops up instead.

The minor user interface glitches do not deter from the entertainment that this game brings. It is a tremendous amount of fun and worth hours of enjoyment. The price tag is low at only $0.99. Pick it up in the App Store today.
