CES 2012: Griffin Unveils 2012 Crayola Product Lineup
Griffin Technology, one of the most respected and well-known companies that brings consumers everyday technology products, has unveiled a new lineup of Crayola apps and accessories that are 100 percent kid-friendly.
With the launch of the Crayola ColorStudio HD and Crayola Trace & Draw last year, it’s clear that there is a space for kids iOS stuff.
“Our successful Crayola ColorStudio HD launch last year made it clear that kids want more Crayola experiences on their digital devices,” said Warren Schorr, Crayola Vice President, Licensing. “We’re excited about the new lineup we’ve brought to life with Griffin and the many ways kids can bring their originality to life by customizing Crayola accessories and creating with new apps.”
This year, Griffin is releasing several new Crayola products for the 2012 lineup: MyPhones, Crayola Lights, Camera, Color! HD, Crayola Silly Face Swaps HD, Crayola Case Creator, and the Color Clickers and Crayon Classics iPhone cases.
“With these new products kids can enjoy taking photos, listening to music and using their iOS devices in a totally new and colorful way,” said Mark Rowan, President of Griffin Technology. “Making technology fun and accessible for children is both exciting and rewarding; we look forward to a continued collaboration with Crayola in 2012 to bring kid-friendly creative experiences to the digital world.”
Crayola MyPhones
The Crayola MyPhones are kid-friendly headphones and earbuds. Both styles will have built-in volume-limiting circuitry, which will keep the sound pressure down to child-safe levels.
The earbuds will be available in a range of colors (Purple Pizzazz, Cotton Candy, Caribbean Green, and Blue Berry), all resembling the iconic design of Crayola. They will come with a carrying case that is shaped like a Crayola crayon, which will open to reveal the earbuds themselves as well as three sizes of soft silicon ear cushions (specifically sized to fit children’s ears). The MyPhones Earbuds will cost $14.99.
The MyPhones Headphones are designed to fit over the ears; this way, nothing enters the ear canal. The Headphones will come with stickers and Crayola markers so that children can customize their headphones to be their own. These will have less colors to choose from, with just two color combinations: pink/purple and blue/green. They will run $24.99.
Crayola Lights, Camera, Color! HD
Crayola Lights, Camera, Color! HD will turn any photo on an iOS device into a personalized digital coloring page for children. The app will allow you to snap a new photo from the camera or even import from your device’s Photo Library.
Once the app gets a photo, the color will be drained from the picture and it will turn into a coloring page. Children will be able to digitally decorate the page using stickers, simulated strokes of Crayola crayons, colored pencils, and markers.
Artwork from the app can be emailed, uploaded to Facebook, or even printed out.
The app is available now for $1.99 and is a universal app for your iPhone and iPad. There is a free Lite version as well.
Crayola Silly Face Swaps HD
With Crayola Silly Face Swaps HD, each coloring page will feature a cut-out, where children can place a photo of their face, a friend’s face, or even a pet’s. These coloring pages can be personalized even further with digital Crayola coloring tools: crayons, colored pencils, and markers.
Artwork from the app can be emailed, uploaded to Facebook, or even printed out.
Crayola Silly Face Swaps is due in the iTunes App Store this spring, though a price has not been announced.
Crayola Case Creator
The Crayola Case Creator is sure to delight anyone looking for a completely unique case for their iPhone or iPod touch. With this app, you can decorate a photo with digital stickers, or just go all-out in the free-draw Doodle mode using built-in crayons, paints, and pens.
When your creation is done, simply print it on the included case inserts. These are perfectly sized to slide into the clear plastic shell, which will protect both your artwork and iOS device.

Crayola Color Clickers for iPod touch
These are a unique little product. For $24.99, you can get 28 interchangeable color stripes that snap onto a polycarbonate shell. This will give you an endless amount of color combinations every day, while protecting your iPod touch from everyday use.
Crayola Crayon Classics for iPod touch
These are the classics. For $24.99, you can get a Crayola crayon wrapper that will protect your iPod touch from everyday wear-and-tear. The Crayola Crayon Classics are available in the following colors: Purple Pizzazz, Cotton Candy, Caribbean Green, and Blue Berry.
