CES 2012: Spice Up Your Living Room With This Rocket Ship Speaker From Lanchiya

January 13, 2012
Do you have an abundance of shelf or table space? Do you love red? Are you into rockets? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, then this X1 rocket ship dock and speaker from Lanchiya Technologies might just be perfect for you. There’s not a lot of information available on this speaker, but I do know that it has an output of 25+ watts, a 15 watt subwoofer, and five speakers that are supposedly positioned for maximum sound separation and distribution. It looks like it will dock with any iPod, iPod touch, or iPhone.

As you can see from the video below, it is sensor oriented, which is kind of a cool feature. You can adjust the volume, pause, and resume playing music just by waving your hand over certain areas. This unique shape is meant to deliver 360 degrees of sound, but there are slightly less obtrusive ways of achieving that result. I’m sure many people will love this design, but I can’t think of a more inefficient, space-hogging way to design a speaker. Lanchiya is also the company behind the iPig and the iBoo (pig and ghost) shaped speakers, which are skirting the line between creepy and cute. The X1 rocket speaker is currently available in the U.K., and it may soon be available in the U.S. as well. It looks like it will retail for just over $100. You can try visiting the Lanchiya website for more information, but I should warn you that it is probably the most annoying site on the Internet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLpHCGoB3uQ&feature=youtu.be
