Blush for Wine (Free) by Hatch Labs, Inc. is a utility that will help you shop for a wine that fits your current mood.
Who doesn’t enjoy a nice glass of wine? But sometimes it can be hard to find the perfect wine for the occasion, so why not get some help? Blush determines your mood by asking you a set of five questions that include what occasion it’s for, what color you prefer, how you like your coffee or tea (if you pick red), what your favorite dessert is (if you pick white), what flavors you like in your food, and price range. Once you answer these questions, Blush will determine your mood.
Blush will give you a brief description of your mood, and give you the top three wines that fit the occasion. These wines will be either popular or top-rated, and you will see the price range for that wine, as well as how many others like that particular brand. If it’s available near you, an indicator will tell you how far you’ll have to go to get your hands on the wine. Tapping on a wine will give you some detail about it, in case you want to know more about it, and you can share the wine on Facebook or Twitter. At any moment, you can start a new mood and get a brand new selection of wines by tapping on the “New Mood” button in the top right.
Blush has a hidden menubar at the bottom of the screen, which can be accessed by tapping on the “blush” tab. It will reveal the drawer of other options, which include Find and History. Find allows you to search for a wine by name or even scan by barcode, of which you can then “love” and add it to your collection in Blush. If you tap on a wine that pops up in your search, you can view a “Mood Match” meter, which shows you how compatible the wine is with your current mood.
History will show you the wines you’ve tried, and you can filter it by date, price, loved, or scanned.
Settings can be found in the app as well, but it’s pretty brief and nothing special. The only options you will find are the ability to log out of your Facebook or Twitter accounts. You can email the developers whatever feedback you have as well.
Blush for Wine is a beautifully designed app. When I first saw it, I just had to check it out, and I’m glad I did. This will be extremely useful when I’m trying to pick out a new wine for myself or even as a gift.
