Pick’n’Roll (Free) by Ramotion is a gorgeous Dribbble client for your iPad.

Even though I am not a designer, that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy seeing the talent on Dribbble. For those who are unfamiliar with what Dribbble is, it is a community of talented artists and designers who show off their work and upcoming projects. Anyone can join Dribbble as a “Spectator,” though you will need to be “drafted” to upload work and comment on “shots” from other people. It’s one of my favorite ways to pass time, as you can definitely get lost for hours just admiring amazing work.

When I first saw Pick’n’Roll for iPad, I was simply stunned at how gorgeous this app was. I have reviewed several Dribbble apps in the past, but I believe that this one may be my new favorite. The interface is lovely, and everything just looks pixel perfect. It’s obvious that the developer decided to put a lot of work into crafting such a good-looking app, and I’m actually very surprised that they would offer it for free.

When you launch the app, you will start off with the Popular screen by default. The app works in both portrait and landscape orientation, though if you want to access the “Locker Room” screen, you’ll have to use the app in portrait mode.

What is the Locker Room? It’s the main screen of the app, and is a beautifully rendered image that offers you navigation to the rest of Pick’n’Roll. Tap on the water bottle for “Everyone,” the basketball for “Popular,” the shoes for “Debuts,” and the hat for “Following.” There’s also a large gear icon that you can tap to access the app settings.

Have you noticed that small little picture frame hanging on the side wall in the locker? Tapping this will enable the “Photo Frame” mode, where you can use your iPad as a frame on your desk to decorate it with the best of Dribbble (it shows Popular shots by default). It’s a nice touch that will add a dash of inspiration on any desk.

The settings are where you want to go to log in to your account (just enter in your username). You can also change the default screen that shows up on launch (it’s on Popular by default), how to sort comments (newest or oldest first), and interface sounds.

When you go to view shots in a section, you will either get 2x1 thumbnail view (portrait) or 2x2 (landscape). However, you can use multitouch gestures (pinching) to see more or less shots at once. Pull the screen up or down to navigate to the next or previous page of shots. You can even swipe right on a shot to immediately add it to your Favorites, or you can swipe to the left to remove it from Favorites.

Tapping on a shot will display the shot, title, player, and comments. You can also see how many views, comments, or likes the shot has received from the community. A shot can be added to your Favorites if you tap on the star button in the top menubar. Tapping on the ball button will allow you to switch to one of the other sections, and the share button (on an individual shot) will let you add it to Favorites, open it in the in-app browser (with the option to open it in Safari if you desire), tweet it, or just copy the URL.

Want to check out someone’s profile? If you tap on the player’s name, you will be taken to see their complete profile, including their uploaded shots. Curious about who they follow or who follows them? Just tap on that and you can view the avatars and names of other players or spectators. The profile will feature a floating pop up window if viewed in portrait mode, while landscape will have two panes.

There’s a wide variety of image types that are uploaded on Dribbble. If you’re worried about what Pick’n’Roll will support, don’t you worry! It supports all image types that are uploaded on the site, and it even has better support for larger GIF images than other competing Dribbble apps.

I found my experience with the app to be quite wonderful. I have tried many Dribbble apps in the past, but I think I may have found a new favorite. Pick’n’Roll is designed extremely well, feels intuitive, and has a nifty feature that others don’t offer: the Photo Frame. It’s the perfect way to decorate your desk if you’re a Dribbble fan.

Anyone that fancies design in the slightest or is just a Dribbble user (Player or Spectator), then definitely give this app a try. It’s completely free.
