Manage Teams And Negotiations In Pocket League Story
Pocket League Story ($2.99) by Kairosoft Co.,Ltd is a combination of soccer and an RPG. It's kind of weird to think the two could even be combined, but here it is.
You take the role of a soccer team owner, and it’s up to you to hire players, schedule games, partner with sponsors, and train your team, while negotiating just about every step of the way.
All the while, you’ll want to promote your team’s notoriety, via increases in team evaluation and fame scores.
An assistant coach will stick with you the whole time, acting as your in-game notifications. The head coaches, though, are on a limited contract. You can get rid of them if their skills aren't paying the bills.
Your players have stats that include: kick (for accuracy and passing), speed, tech (play accuracy), body (balance), and keep (goalkeeping skill). Each player is ranked A-F, which shows how well they perform in their assigned position. “Special practice” is a way to level-up your characters between games.
The actual games are automated. This was actually a relief for me, when the two teams faced off and I had no idea how, or if I could, even control them. You really do take the role of the coach and watch as the game plays out, only being able to change the team's strategy after the halftime mark.
All of the games I played resulted in a tie, no matter what strategy I used. Maybe I wasn't using my players effectively, or maybe the random number generator just didn't like me.
The graphics work for this game, but managing the interface is a little iffy. At times, it’s hard to tell what button to press to actually have changes take effect, or to start games.
If you like soccer, RPGs, or even just managing a team, you'd most likely enjoy this app. Crazy enough, even not liking soccer isn’t necessarily a deterrent.
