Trashy Humor Found In Trashers
Trashers (Free) by RGH Games LLC is a collection of familiar games cobbled together inside a trash-can.
Gus and Nico are two ordinary garbage collectors (though they happen to wield weird weapons and are aided by a talking sea gull), who are thrown into adventure when they stumble upon the villainous opossum, Dr. O, who plans to trash every city she can.
The game starts with a brief tutorial, which will have you navigating your garbage truck through the streets of Surburbia. Collect trash cans the way Pac-Man would eat dots. Funny enough, there are even monsters moving along the streets. But these villains are far from ghosts. Instead the monsters are mutant trash bags and nasty piles of junk, going by names such as Sludger, Junkster, and Alumiknight.
When you encounter a monster, play shifts to more of a shooting gallery approach. Gus and Nico will face off against the monster, taking turns attacking and defending. Attacking means using swipes on the monster, which activates Gus’s spring loaded trash puncher and Nico’s gun. A shield will come up, indicating a defense round, where you’ll need to tap hurled trash bags to avoid being hit. Watch out for the toxic barrels thrown into the mix as well, these end up hurting our sanitation technicians.
Mini-games are provided throughout the game as well, such as one where you need to sort different bottles into their respective recycling bins. World one (containing the first three levels) is free, but worlds two and three (Urbanon and Filth Fortress) are both in-app purchases, costing $0.99 each.
Overall, I really enjoyed the 3D graphics and the trashy humor. However, the game began to feel repetitive within the first world, making me feel less inclined to try the others. The game also suffers from a few glitches, such as no sound playing by default when you first open it, and the recycling mini-game not being too responsive.
