Shazam Launches Shazam Player - Includes Lyrics Support For Music Library

The creators of Shazam, one of the first music identification services, have released a new app called Shazam Player (free).
Shazam Player aims to bring you and your music together with a unique experience. As listed in the app's release notes, some of Shazam Player's features include:
• Bring your music to life with LyricPlay™. See streaming lyrics in time to the music - you’ll always have the words to your favorite songs with you. • Share the soundtrack of your day on Facebook and Twitter • Watch YouTube videos and concert clips • Find tour dates for the bands and artists you’re into • Manage your music – see your iTunes playlists and create new playlists on the fly • Select your favorite tracks and hide ones you don’t want to hear • Add to your music - buy new tracks on iTunes from within the app • View music by artist/album/title and use the Track Tray to see all the great Shazam features available for each song • Top tracks – a changing list of LyricPlay tracks – buy them straight from the app if you don’t already own them • Identify new music you’re hearing by instantly launching the Shazam AppUpon launching the app, Shazam Player will ask to scan your music library for "LyricPlay" compatible songs. Of the 727 songs on my iPhone, eight of them were compatible. I do have a fairly obscure taste in music, so hopefully others will have more luck with their music working with the app. However, for the songs that do work, you can enable LyricPlay, which works somewhat like a children's sing-along. The lyrics will either flow over the screen line by line, or lyrics will be displayed and light up accordingly when they should be sung. While I find this app to be somewhat unnecessary, this may be fun for younger crowds or some AirPlay-mirrored karaoke, which is surprisingly supported.
