Soul Calibur Arriving On iOS Jan 19

January 15, 2012

Earlier today, Namco announced that Soul Calibur will be arriving on your iOS devices on January 19.

Remember when you spent hours playing the original Soul Calibur on your Dreamcast or in the arcades? Yup, now you will be able to experience that again, this time on your iPhone or iPad.

This iOS port of the original Soul Calibur game will feature 19 fighters and several different game modes, including: Arcade Battle, Time Attack, Survival, Extra Survival, Practice, and Museum.

Of these included modes, only the Survival and Extra Survival will have support for Game Center leaderboards. I hope that there are some achievements to obtain, but we’ll see.

It's a shame that there doesn't seem to be a Versus mode though, since that's what fighting games are all about. Hopefully we can see this added in the future, and perhaps players can fight each other via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

This will be a universal app for your iPhone 4/4S, iPod touch 4, and iPad 2. Pricing has not been revealed.

We will have a full review for you once the game is out and we give it a spin.

What do you think? Are you excited that Soul Calibur is coming to iOS? Are you planning to pick it up (if you’re a dedicated SC fan)? Let us know what you think in the comments!
