Sumo Stacker Is The Most Fun You Can Have Stacking Things
Sumo Stacker ($1.99) by Paul Hamilton is an unbelievably simple stacking game that is surprisingly challenging. There is only one goal, to stack the sumo wrestlers as high as possible. See how long you can last.
The game starts with two sumo wrestlers on top of one another and a third floating side-to-side above the stack. To start adding to the stack, tap the screen anywhere and the floating man will drop. The drop must be timed precisely or the sumo will become unbalanced and fall.
The first level’s target is a stack of five. It is fairly difficult to judge the timing of the drop, especially once there are four or more sumo wrestlers standing on each other’s heads. Once you pass the first level, it's easier to know when to drop the sumo, but the slightest mistake will send the wrestlers tumbling to the ground.
Each subsequent level has a new goal that increases in increments of five. Once there are 20 sumo wrestlers standing on each other’s heads, the game is nearly impossible to beat, but tremendous fun to try.
One important thing to note is that tapping the “home” icon will restart the game as new. All your hard work will be lost. Don’t touch it unless you want to start from scratch.
Overall, this simple, yet challenging game is entertaining and fun. Considering there is only one goal, it is surprisingly exciting. Players will find themselves trying over and over again and shouting for joy when a stack is complete. The price is about a dollar too much for something this simple. It may be a good idea to wait until it goes on sale. However, it is still a great way to spend $1.99.
